Refunds and disputes policy
Version: 2026-12-01
1. Scope
This policy applies to every order made through the app. An order is a sale between the user and the chef, and we are not a party to it. Payment goes directly between them and we hold no money for orders, so any refund is owed and made by the chef directly, never by us. Our fee is paid by the chef from the credit balance and is never charged to the user, so it is never part of a refund to the user.
We have no obligation to decide a disagreement or to pay a refund. Some steps in the app can only be taken by us: an order reported to Lammma stays in that status, and a refund owed stays open, until we record an outcome or that the refund was settled. We record an outcome for a reported order within 7 working days of having the information both sides give us, so that the order and the accounts are not left blocked. Recording an outcome is a step about the app only: it is not a ruling on the sale between the user and the chef, and not a guarantee. Other steps this policy describes for us, such as messaging both sides or suspending an account, are at our discretion.
A problem with an order is reported from the order page, and it goes to the kitchen first. It is passed to Lammma when the kitchen does not answer it within 2 hours, or when the user says the kitchen's answer did not solve it. A report about food safety, a no-show the user disputes, or an order not received after the chef marked it handed over goes to Lammma at once. Lateness alone is between the user and the kitchen, and we do not deal with it.
2. Cash orders
The amount is paid on receipt or delivery, after the order has been checked. If there is a problem, the user raises it with the chef in the order chat, and can report it from inside the app on the order page. We may look at the report, at our discretion.
3. Paying by transfer
The user uploads the transfer receipt in the app, and this is required to complete the order. The chef confirms the money arrived and preparation starts. When the two sides disagree, we may look at the receipts, at our discretion, and we keep them for the period stated in the privacy policy.
4. "Transfer not received"
If the chef reports that the money did not arrive, the user is notified and can upload another receipt or explain the disagreement. We may then look at the receipts and the app's records, at our discretion, and record an outcome in the app, such as returning the order to preparation or cancelling it. If the transfer was made, the chef owes the user either the order or the money back.
5. How a refund is made
When a refund is owed, the chef makes it to the same wallet or account the transfer came from, within 7 days of the cancellation, of the two sides' agreement, or of the outcome recorded in the app. The chef sends the refund from the order in the app, with the amount and a screenshot of the transfer as evidence. The user then confirms that it arrived, or reports that it did not, and that report goes to Lammma. A refund the user does not answer within 48 hours of the chef sending it counts as received. We do not pay refunds. We may suspend a chef who does not return money that is owed, and a chef cannot delete their account while the app shows a refund as still owed.
6. Cancellations
Before the chef accepts the order: the user can cancel for free.
A transfer or deposit order, after acceptance and before the receipt is uploaded: either side can cancel, and no money has moved yet.
A cash order with no deposit once the chef accepts it, or any order once the transfer receipt is uploaded: the user cannot cancel from the app, even when the order is scheduled for later and cooking has not started. The user can ask the chef in the chat, and the chef can cancel it until it is ready. If there is a problem, the user reports the order from its page. We may look at it and, at our discretion, cancel the order in the app and record that the chef owes a refund.
If the chef cancels an order after accepting it, or accepts it and does not deliver it, and payment was by transfer (a deposit included), the chef owes the user the full amount paid. A no-show, below, is the exception.
Hand-over: when the chef hands over or delivers the order, the chef marks it handed over in the app, and the user confirms receipt. If the user does not answer, the order is completed automatically 30 minutes after the chef marks it. A user who did not receive the order reports it from the order page, and the order is then passed to Lammma instead of being completed.
No-show: if the user does not come for the order or does not answer, the chef can mark a no-show once the wait shown in the app has passed (currently 15 minutes after the order is ready or on its way, or after its scheduled time). The order then ends without being completed, our fee is not charged on it, and money the user already paid in advance, such as a deposit, stays with the chef. A user who did come can dispute it from the order page, and the report goes to Lammma. Two no-shows within 60 days mean that, for 30 days after the second one, the user cannot pay in cash and pays in advance by transfer, at every kitchen.
An order left as ready or on its way for 24 hours without a hand-over is marked completed automatically. This does not mean it was delivered: the user can still report it from its page.
7. Expired orders
If the chef does not answer within the acceptance window shown in the app (currently 20 minutes) after the order is sent, the order expires by itself and nothing is owed: no transfer is asked for before the chef accepts. On a transfer order, the receipt must be uploaded within the time shown on the order page, thirty minutes after acceptance unless the app shows another time. When that time runs out the order expires too. Anyone who transferred money but could not upload the receipt in time reports the order from the help centre in the app. The chef owes back any money that arrived, and we may follow up with the chef, at our discretion.
8. Timelines, outcomes and appeals
When we look at a report, we aim to answer within 7 working days of having the full information, based on the order, the chat, the receipt and the app's records, and we tell both sides the outcome and the reasons. Either side can appeal within 14 days of the outcome, through the contact details in the terms, and it is looked at again. An outcome we record concerns the use of the app only. It does not settle the rights between the user and the chef, and it does not take away anyone's right to go to court or to complain to the Consumer Protection Agency (terms, section 15).
9. A chef's credit
Top-ups of a chef's credit are not orders and are not covered by the rest of this policy. A top-up that was sent but not credited, a credit taken back, unused credit when a kitchen closes (terms, section 7) and a fee a chef disputes are between the chef and us. They are handled through lammma.app@gmail.com or the help centre, under the top-up and misuse rules in the terms (sections 8 and 9), and can be looked at again as section 8 above describes.
